Netherlands vs England, 2nd ODI at Amstelveen, NL v ENG, Jun 19 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
England won by 6 wickets (with 29 balls remaining)
7:53pm 2-0 up another game to go. Will Netherlands manage to pull one off? Have they found a formula for success going by how today panned out? We should have all the answers in a couple of days time. Do join us then. For tonight, on behalf of Binoy and Alan, this is Sudarshanan signing off. Thanks for joining us Ciao!
Eoin Morgan, England captain: "The guys have played really well. Great to see Brydon Carse come and hit the series with energy and pace. The top order guys... Salt again shows what he is capable of and Roy in his 100th game doing well. The Netherlands batted first for a good reason, it slowed up a bit. Another 40 runs would have troubled us even though we bat deep. The strength and depth grows deeper and deeper. We produce batters that are ready to take the attack. Similarly, India have a number of batters they can turn to. Pieter's contribution to the Dutch team has been outstanding and wish him well on behalf of England team."
Scott Edwards, Netherlands captain: "There are plenty of positives for us. We put on a good performance and the bowling was better. The opening partnership of England cost us and maybe we were 30 runs short. It was a missed opportunity to get to 260. Pringle has a good head on his shoulders and was brave with the ball. I don't think we were far off the mark with the bat and a couple of wickets around the 35th over that cost us. Have to figure out plans for the powerplay."
Jason Roy, the player of the match: "To receive my 100th cap is a huge honour, especially in this side. Extremely grateful for that. A slight stutter maybe, they bowled well and fielded well and managed to put pressure on us. Salt is a lovely fellow, great to bat with and whacks it well. English cricket is in a very healthy state. There are great players willing to do anything."
7:44pm The Mathew Mott era in England's limited overs cricket starts off with a series win. Not the most authoritative win today but England will take it. They were expected to romp home especially in the manner Roy started off. His 139-run alliance at the top with Salt well and truly set them up for a clinical performance. But the Dutch slow bowlers - read Dutt, Pringle and Cooper - kept the batters under a leash when after Roy fell to create a wobble. However, 236 was never going to daunt the tourists and Malan and Ali ensured that they cross the line. Memorable day for Roy in his 100th ODI - a quick half-century helping England to a win.
Shane Snater now.
Another very slow ball well outside off, Malan misses the drive. A maiden! Who would have thunk!
Afeef: "Not a bad game for England overall, just that 6 over phase where they looked like they had a hiccup. Netherlands had a good game, put on a competitive total and didn't let England win easily. A great match for ODI cricket. Who said ODIs were dead? "

Flatter around off, slapped to mid-off.

Looks to cut now but the extra bounce makes him miss.
Floated fuller outside off, beats Ali on the outside as he looks to block.

Quicker and flatter outside off, punched through cover for a brace.
Slower through the air outside off, goes back to punch it through cover for one.

And what do we have here!
